The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is the new standard physical fitness test for all soldiers, replacing the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). Its purpose is to better assess a soldier’s overall physical fitness and their ability to perform essential tasks in the Army.
The ACFT comprises six events designed to evaluate a soldier’s muscular strength, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness. These events include the three-repetition maximum deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry, leg tuck, and a two-mile run.
Each event is scored based on performance standards adjusted for age and gender. The maximum achievable score is 600 points, with a passing threshold of 360 points.
The ACFT aims to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of a soldier’s physical readiness for their duties in the Army. Therefore, soldiers must prepare for the ACFT to maintain readiness and potentially earn promotion points for their performance on the test.
